Smashbox O-Glow is back in stock

Posted on | May 19, 2007 | 2 Comments

The most innovative product from Smashbox yet – this is the ‘intuitive’ blush gel – a clear gel which turns your cheeks the colour that you blush naturally. As if by magic? Well I wouldn’t go quite that far, although the chemistry certainly does have a novel feel about it.

Smashbox say ….

When applied, your skin’s moisture activates the energizing Goji Berry-C Complexâ„¢. It creates a microcirculatory effect, producing a rosy flush that lasts all day. This revolutionary silicone-based clear gel works on every skin tone and is microcirculating and skin energizing to keep cheeks naturally flushed for hours. O-GLOW’s unique Goji Berry-C Complexâ„¢ formula is full of antioxidants like vitamin C, pomegranate seed oil and marine plankton for added healthy-skin benefits.

this is an amazing product – it works best of sallow skins – if you have naturally rosy cheeks then this will not be suitable. And apply using a brush if possible as it will certainly stain your fingers. It can be worn on its own – or over or under make up.

I first tried it in early February here is the discussion we had on ST.com about it.

It definitely isn’t for me as I am blessed with rosy cheeks (that is the word my Mum uses – personally it drives me up the wall) and to be honest, anyone with a high colour will find little benefit and would be better sticking to a soft sheer blush colour like skin tint

I think it looks picture perfect on olive and darker skintones – and applied sparingly will really add natural radiance to pale skins. The size is a 15mls tube – so not a large amount for the relatively high price point – but you really only need a tiny amount. The texture is very similar to the Smashbox primer – it does give a smoothing effect to the cheeks. You can wear it directly on the skin – or over primer or foundation.

And definitely apply with a brush – otherwise your fingers will go strawberry pink – the best brush (if you are feeling flush) is the Highlighter brush from the Master Brush Roll but any liquid foundation brush will do.

Does it meet the hype?

Well from the feedback so far, it certainly has exceeded expectations – and has taken the beauty industry by storm – reviews and blogs everywhere have praised this ‘one size fits all’ miracle blush. Although Juliet on the makeup advice forum did feel that it lacked staying power.

It will be interesting to see if this goes the distance to become as much of a classic as Smashbox Photofinish primer, or Smashbox anti-shine.

I expect it is certainly designed to be in that league and all credit to Smashbox for creating one of the most talked about, and sought after, beauty products of this millenium…

But what you you think?

Having been perusing the Smashbox website, I notice that they have helpfully now included three mini video clips of the effect of O-Glow on different skintones – so see how O-Glow works when applied to Fair, Medium and Deep skintones.
