The latest SMASHBOX Fusion Softlights – MATRIX

Posted on | May 28, 2007 | 1 Comment

SMASHBOX FUSION softlights blush / brighteners were pretty innovative at the time they came out – I think they may have been based on the Bobbi Brown Shimmerbrick idea – I know the BB ones came first. We started selling the first two Smashbox fusions back in July 2005 (OMG time flies!) and launched them in the UK with Intermix for the face and Mosaic for the eyes.

Fusions for the face

Since then Smashbox have bought out a number of face palettes and eye palettes and some have even featured in both US and UK TSVs.
For the UK Guru formed part of the November ‘Best of’ TSV – a pinky shimmer blush / all over face colour. In April last year the Sequence palette was part of the Real to Reel TSV. At the time, Daniel from SMASHBOX said you could use as a shimmer bronzer, and I am aware that many people have (some have also been mortified when they found out it was in fact an eyeshadow – but the fact is that if it works for you then go for it. It doesn’t have to say ‘multi-tasking’ on the tin for it to work however you want it to.

Fusions for Eyes

The most recent fusion for eyes is Panorama – which is in our store room ready for listing – it looks a little like a cross between Motion and Mesh – soft beiges and ochre mixed with greys. So look out for that in the very near future.

But – and I must stop rambling…. I tried my own Matrix Fusion softlights this morning and fell in lurve! I had tried this at the New Year New You Event in January when one of rhe Smashbox ladies applied it to my eyes. QVC actually launched them later that week in the January Smashbox show. But for me, they didn’t do it justice. Our description on the site really says it all. Suffice to say it is the most natural, the most flattering all over face colour I have EVER USED. Being ‘Miss Pink’ I really didn’t expect to like this – but it really does work.

Just Beauty Direct says

Smashbox Fusion Softlight Matrix lets you wake up your face with a soft colourwash of five gorgeous lightly shimmering shades – from pale ivory to the most perfect mauve sheer blush – with sheer peach, apricot coral and golden shimmer in between. SMASHBOX MATRIX is the perfect universal fusion – I think it is the most natural and flattering yet.

This is the Extra Large sized (approx 7cms) palette.

The application technique is entirely up to you – use each colour individually, to highlight, blush, and lightly tint or swirl together with a soft fluffy brush (preferably Smashbox – of course!) for a sheer wash of the prettiest natural, most flattering colour. It is too soft to be a true bronzer – it really is the most natural flattering tint – and the blush (even for Miss Pink like me) is incredibly pretty and natural. I’m DEFINITELY keeping this one.

Another great ‘face fixer’ for those mornings when making up is the last thing you have time for and is a perfect multi tasking product for your handbag, desk, travel bag etc.

Matrix fusion

Definitely one (OK another one – as I love AGLOW from the most recent TSV) for my holiday bag – but it really is my skin….but better!)

Wore the Matrix Fusion again today.

FOTD was; Smashbox primer, Bare Escentuals Summer Bisque which I used to cover a bit of redness on my cheeks, a swirl of Matrix all over and then used the mauve stripe as a blush. A quick streak of Focal Point Mascara and then for the lips – the Rainforest lush lip palette – I used the middle colour (they don’t have names) – I had forgotten how pretty and natural the Lush Palette is. And the Lip brilliances definitely last longer than gloss.

Anyway – a great ‘no make’ up look – hair in a ponytail and great for pottering around the garden centre (where I spent far too much money and now have to go and do some planting out).

Anyone near Bridgemere in Shropshire ? I do like their teashop too!
