Smashbox Healthy Fx Foundation

At last, Smashbox High Definition Healthy FX has arrived!!
Launched a couple of weeks ago in the US, Just Beauty Direct are delighted (if not as colour confused as everyone else) to have all 12 shades to bring to you.
QVC have offered four shades (fair, light. medium and dark), in their usual way – this sure does
assist with reducing aforesaid confusion, but one does wonder why Smashbox have brought out so many shades if, as Nina said last night when QVC went to air with it, that almost all skintones would fall into one of those four shades.
Anyway – the colour chart for the 12 shades is here
and here. An alternative (and IMHO) better colour chart can be found at Nordstroms – which is a fab department store chain in the US (if ever you are passing have a look at their Smashbox counters) – if you prefer not to travel so far, take a look here!
What we are finding so far is that for the lightest shades (where there seems to be most confusion) fair / Pink skintones suit F1 and F2 and yellow/neutral skintones suit L1 and L2.
For all those who have purchased / tried – please let us know your feedback on the colour – if you can, let us know what you usually wear in terms of foundation (Smashbox and otherwise) and what colour of Healthy FX suits. And any views on what you think of the foundation will be of great interest too.
FWIW – I usually wear Smashbox Petal in the winter or Bisque in the summer – well….I did until I fell in love with the Philosophy Supernatural (some people have no brand loyalty – lol) However, since trying the F2, the bottle has remained in my make up bag – and is now the foundaton of choice. Why? Because it’s oil free and it just disappears – it is much less dewy than the Studio Seamless although it isn’t drying at all. But even though it disappears – it just improves my skin without looking like foundation – I reckon it is the perfect no make up foundation – but will be interested to see what you think.

Well, thanks to JustBeautyDirect, I had the L2 at the end of last month; it is a more yellow toned colour. I used to wear Ivory and it is perfect for me.
I always wear Smashbox primer underneath and what I have found is that the foundation lasts without going cakey at all later in the day.
I’m impressed with it and would buy again

I am finding the healthy fx to be the only liquid foundation that ever looked really good on me. I’d love a slightly less tanned shade so I may start mixing my L1 or L2 with the pale shade that has pink undertones. Even on my ultra reactive skin this worked miracles.

The latest information (thank you Jackie) is that the QVC shades are;
Fair = F2
Light = L3
The light IMHO may be quite a bit darker than those who usually wear light might expect.
But it is very forgiving foundation – and despite the rather limited information from Smashbox, most of us will suit more than one shade. So even though we are all on the Holy Grail of foundation matching, the colours are somewhat forgiving.
I know you will love the texture of this foundation – and would suggest that even if you don’t quite find your perfect shade first off, you may find (like Vampyre above) that investing in another shade to balance out any slight deficiency a good idea. You can easily blend on the back of your hand – and having a slightly darker shade will give flexibility during the summer months when skin tones deepen slightly.

I bought L1 and L2 as I was unsure which would be the correct shade for me.
To be honest this foundation when first pumped out looks really deep but blends down flawless.
I am a Warm Ivory in Bobbi Brown, No 4 in LSF Armani, Real Cream in Prescriptives. The L1 one is great for me, the L2 will come into its own later in the summer.
The thing is as I have said the Healthy foundation does blend down and you really need to try it on your face before deciding. The texture is super not shiny or overly matt just like real skin only better.
Doesn’t cake or feel heavy on the skin. The shades are quite forgiving.

Decided to make a further comment on L2. I actually wore it to see if it would be more suitable for summer? Well L2 has I would say a more golden hint than the L1 which is yellow toned. I was surprised to find the L2 blended flawlessly on my skin and I didn’t look as if I had too dark a shade on at all.
The FX is actually very forgiving in its shades. I did not powder but left the foundation on its own with just the Aglow quad dusted on my TZone. What I had was beautiful natural looking skin, nothing cakey nor shiney.

Hmmm – more confusion on the colour front – really can’t believe how confusing this is.
QVC UK shades apparently are;
Fair – L1
Light – L2
Medium – L3
Dark – L4
If this is correct it is certainly one way to reduce confusion – whether everyone is getting the best shade for their skin is another matter.
I am still good with F1 and F2 – depending on which bottle is nearer ;-))
(yes – it really is that forgiving)
And Donna – thanks for the review on the website – and your FOTD yesterday sounds beautiful!
I think I will mosey on over to Make Up Alley and see what is being said about it over there
